Thank You Notes…from your dog

I thought I would share the notes I found under the kitchen table this morning.  They are thank you notes from my dogs and because next week is Thanksgiving I thought you might enjoy reading them.

Mack standing at attention, ready     for action.

From Mack – I am your head of the pack guy and I take my job very seriously.  You have taught me how to be a leader of this crew and I think we are doing pretty well.  I want to thank you for giving me the skills I need to be a well-mannered dog around the house and when we go to field trials.  I also want to thank you for the oversized crate I get to ride in the van in. You know I’m a little too big for the regular size crate and this one is perfect for me.

From Shandi – I let brother Mack write first and now that he is done, I want to tell you thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking tender loving care

Julie and Shandi, the quiet, loving girl.

of me for all four years I have been here.  You know that I am a shy, quiet girl who melts when you touch me and all I want to do is curl up on your lap. But you saw something else in me way before I did, and you started preparing me for my role in society.  We have spent many hours learning all the skills I need to win in the show ring and at field trials. There were times when all I wanted to do was stay home with you, but you encouraged me to reach for the stars. We did that and now I guess I have arrived because from my ribbons and plaques I think I am more famous than Mack.  Love you so much! Next time we curl up I am going to give you a big kiss and a smile so you know just how much I love you!

Nike, the little princess!

From Nike – I am your little princess, aren’t I?  I love how you keep my coat shining and my haircuts are a showstopper!  When we step into the show ring to compete, I feel like a million dollars.  Together we make a really good team! But I know you are very busy with your work so I also want to thank you for taking the time to train me, so I know what to do and when to do it.  Now…. if you can just get little sis, Seger, to behave in the house, even when you aren’t there, we will have the best pack ever.

From Seger – I see what sister Nike just said about me and I guess it’s true.  I don’t always make good choices in the house. Somethings are just

so tempting (like the little stuffed pumpkin on the dining table).  Sorry I jumped up and took it. But anyway, in my thank you note I want to say how glad I am that you are patient with me. I promise I will grow up and be a good girl, but it might take me a little longer than some.  I love you to the moon and back (heard that on TV and it sounds so cool).

Walking a well trained dog
Wyatt out for a walk with Julie.

From Wyatt – Well I just read the other notes and I am so glad I am you and Dad’s ‘pet’.  The others have to actually do stuff like the competitions, but I get to be your guy who is always home.  I am always ready to go for a walk, bike ride or make a trip to Home Depot. I want to thank you for teaching me tricks and skills so I am a well behaved member of the family.  I also want to thank you for taking me along to some of your In Home Training appointments. When you ask me to do a trick or show off a skill, like Heel I feel so good inside.  I know it pleases you and that makes me feel so helpful. Thanks for asking me and never stop because together we make a great team. In a nutshell, thanks for giving me an awesome family to live with and your love every day.

From Creed – I’m the little guy and I know I haven’t been around very long but already I can tell this pack is pretty special.  From watching my pack mates,

Creed, the little guy.

I can tell I have a lot to learn. Like right now we are working on potty training. The bells you have me ring are so awesome!  I feel like such a big boy when I use them and do what I am supposed to do. You are a great teacher! Thanks for choosing me and I promise to always do my homework and remember what you have taught me because someday I want to be famous like big brother Mack and sister Shandi.

This pack is something else.  They give me so much love and enjoyment (and sometimes a few challenges) but together we are doing life.  Yes there is work involved but aren’t all good things worth the effort?
