Training in Distractions (aka Shopping With Your Dog)

In every small group training class we encourage participants to take their dog into public places and take a few minutes to work on skills training.  Recently Julie came across a fabulous article by an organization called Project Pawsitivity.  They featured an excellent article featuring 45 national businesses that welcome you and your pet (usually on leash only).  We are reposting their article here to help spread the word of their cause and say thank you for writing such an awesome article to help us know where our dogs are welcome.

Some of the most common businesses that we see dogs with their owners is at Home Depot, Petsmart, Petco, Lowes, Bed Bath and Beyond and Ace Hardware.  But some of the hidden gems that many dog owners frequent but usually not with their dog (until after reading Project Pawsitivity’s article are The Container Store, TX Maxx / Marshalls, Old Navy, Michaels, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby and Bass Pro Shops.  Read the entire article here to learn about all 45 businesses!

We hope this inspires you to talk your dog in with you, especially during / after one of our small group classes.  It’s always fun to show off your dog’s talents!).

Sincerely,

Julie
